Thousands Converged on Orlando to Celebrate Achievers 2009

Achievers 2009 was yet another exciting event as Amway Global and the IBOAI continued to honor their 50th year of growth in this great business. Thousands of IBOs converged on Orlando, Florida, to take part in education, motivation, and celebration and all that the Disney experience has to offer. Make sure you take a look at all the photos we have posted; also, check out our You Tube Channel, hopefully you followed us on Twitter where we posted some more photos and visited our Facebook page as we reported live from the Swan and Dolphin.

From the welcome events (session 1 and session 2), to the business meeting (session 1 and session 2), the private Amway Global event at Universal Studios (session 1 and session 2), to the training sessions (session 1 and session 2), the fantastic giveaways and the nostalgic recognition evening (session 1 and session 2) – no details were spared to make the event an experience of a lifetime. (See some of the Achievers photos that Amway Global posted for Achieve magazine.) And as an added bonus, a New Platinum Seminar was held during the first session.

It was only fitting that Amway President Doug DeVos, son of founder Rich DeVos, was part of this great event. Doug shared the goals of the founding families to work toward a beautiful future, all the while turning it into reality and noted that our last 50 years will be our foundation for the next 50, always making our business a better opportunity tomorrow than it is today. Doug thanked the IBOAI and its leaders for being so incredibly important to our business as we grow the future and continue to touch lives. This year was particularly exciting for the IBOAI as our Executive Committee members Joe Markiewicz, Jim Janz, Kathy Victor, Bill Hawkins, Jody Victor, and newly elected Brad Duncan were part of The IBO Show – an educational and entertaining portion of the Business Meeting, emceed by entertainer/comedian Scott Bloom. IBOAI Chairman Bob Andrews was center stage with Amway Global Vice President of Sales Sandy Spielmaker for opening and closing comments as was IBOAI Board Vice Chairman Steve Woods. During the meeting in each session, 3 lucky IBO numbers were drawn from attendees who went home with either an all expense paid trip for two to the 2010 MLS Soccer Championships, a trip to the 2010 Indianapolis 500, or Super Bowl XLIV.

Upon conclusion of the very entertaining and informative “IBO Show,” the audience was treated to a keynote address from Chris GardnerNew York Times and Washington Post bestselling author of Pursuit of Happyness, which was also made into a movie that became the number 2 all-time domestic grossing drama. Chris, who has been awarded many honors over his lifetime, shared the amazing story which led him to become a homeless father with an 18 month old son, even though he had gone to school, worked hard, played by all the rules of life. He stressed the importance of breaking cycles that hold you back, having a dream, being committed to your goals, and becoming “world class” at whatever you do. Mr. Gardner closed with: “This book and movie are about everybody who ever had a dream and wouldn’t quit.” At the conclusion of the Business Meeting, IBOAI Chairman Bob Andrews encouraged the audience to stay focused, stay engaged and stay tuned.

The Expo was a huge hit, and the Training Sessions were heavily attended. All IBOships attending Achievers received an iPod touch when visiting the Tech/Training area of Expo and were shown the new Amway Global Mobile Apps. The IBOAI staff and an occasional Board member were on hand at their booth to provide information on the Association and its activities (past, present, future). Training Seminars were standing-room-only as Bill Hawkins, Joe Markiewicz, Bob Andrews, Steve Woods, Jody Victor, Jim Janz and Joe Victor and Cale Andrews provided valuable information to attendees on all aspects of building a successful, balanced, growing business.

The final night of Achievers, a semi formal event, was elegant, nostalgic, emotional, and intriguing as leaders from the past shared very special words of wisdom on the last 50 years and leaders of the future were honored. IBOAI Board Chairman Bob Andrews received special recognition from Sandy Spielmaker during the first session recognition dinner, celebrating “his vision, extraordinary communications skills, and deep desire to make a difference.” Two very happy IBOs left the final night of each session with either a 2010 Harley Davidson Fat Boy or a 2010 Mustang Convertible. Following recognition of new Pins from Emeralds all the way to Crowns, the group was entertained by Beatles tribute band, Rain. It was a wonderful evening, a fitting conclusion to a fabulous event and a very clear reminder that our business opportunity is not just about success – it is about significance. Our business provides an opportunity to anyone that is willing to be very significant to others and to the world.

Thank you Amway Global, thank you IBOAI Board Members, thank you all IBOs and IBO leaders for making North America a better place.
